Fernando de Azevedo: pioneer of New Education

Abstract

This article's aim is to resetle Fernando de Azevedo's profile as Pioneer of New Education. It criticizes some usual representations that are established as a memory of the "movement of eucation renovation" in Brazil, proposing to place azevedo's pedagogical militancy of the 1930's in the field of confrontation of his allies -- the educators whose place was Associação Brasileira de Educação -- and their antagonists -- the catholics, that were congregated in Confederação Católica Brasileira de Educação.
