Abstract

To discuss the relationship between authorship and collective work, this paper brings questions about the actions of engineers and architects within the changes of the Brazilian State from 1930. The specific analysis of the conformation of the Engineering Division of the Institute of Retirement and Pensions of Industrial Workers (IAPI) seeks to discern the main ideas and actions of the social housing production of the 1940s and 1950s, to understand how the specific discussions of the disciplinary field of architecture and urban planning were linked to the integration dynamics of the country into Capitalism.
