Abstract

The reflection on his personal trajectory, the affective relationship with Brazil, and the vigorous exchange
of influences in Luso-Brazilian architecture contextualize a
commitment to teach history of Portuguese architecture,
according a conception that extends the idea of the language as the homeland, due to Fernando Pessoa, for the
architecture and cities of both countries. Then, the paper
takes over a tribute to the master Fernando Távora, in order
to highlight the relevance of the drawing and of the voyage
for visual education, to underline the structural relation between drawing and design at Porto School of Architecture,
and to assert the drawing as a sure sign of man’s presence.
