Abstract

The creation of National Housing Bank (BNH) in the 1960s started the construction of thousands of housing units all over the country. However, those units were built with a standardized disqualified architecture, inconsiderate from urban and social concerns. By the end of BNH, and a certain resultant institutional void, discussions took shape and a new professional practice through technical advice and housing movements in search of a model for self-managed housing production begun. This article presents the history of the technical performance advisory services in São Paulo city through their first relationship and integration of joint efforts in self-managed housing.
