Interprofessional practices in in-service training and changes for a user-centered perspective

Abstract

Objectives: This article aims to analyze the interprofessional training of dentistry graduates during mandatory internships in Primary Health Care (PHC). Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach carried out from 2021 to 2022. Undergraduate Dentistry students who experienced curricular activities with teams from the Family Health Strategy during the fight against Covid-19 were invited to participate in the research. 19, from 2020 to 2022. Interviews were carried out in a virtual environment, recorded and transcribed, using a semi-structured script. The data were analyzed based on the theoretical framework of Interprofessional Education and the National Policy for Permanent Education in Health. Results: The results were divided into 2 themes: Interprofessional work experiences and Understanding of attributes of interprofessionality. In theme 1, the importance of immersion in the reality of health services in PHC stands out for appropriating the functioning of health services and the team and their performance in different approaches and tools of interprofessional work and in theme 2 it is observed that Internships in health services allow students to understand the common objective of the team, which is to care for the person to guarantee comprehensive care, in addition to recognizing collaborative skills for teamwork. Conclusions: By valuing curricular spaces for immersion in practice scenarios in the Unity Health System, such as in the mandatory internships under analysis, the student approaches skills for interprofessional teamwork with emphasis on interprofessional communication to achieve common objectives with a focus in expanded health care and can exercise teamwork and integration with other areas of health, weaving significant learning about the attributes of interprofessionality and different professional roles.
