Abstract

One of the goals of the Program for Education through Labor for Health (PET-Health) / Interprofessionality was
the insertion and implementation Interprofessional Education (IPE) in the curricula of undergraduate health

courses. The objective of this work is to present the survey and characterization of interprofessionality and
collaborative practices present in the contents of the curricular subjects of undergraduate courses in the health
area of Higher Education Institutions (IES) in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, that participated in the PET – Health/
Interprofessionality. The methodology adopted was based on the request to the coordinators of undergraduate
courses at IES to fill out a survey with questions about initiatives/contents and subjects included in their
curricula that developed competencies and skills related to IPE and Collaborative Practice. The study produced
evidence on the São Paulo state profile of the projects approved in the PET – Health/Interprofessionality
regarding the existence of curricular contents focused on IPE. The results showed that most courses have
disciplines in conjunction with different areas of health, but without explicitly applying the theoretical and
methodological foundations of IPE. It is concluded that there is an intention in the implementation and
development of collaborative and interprofessional competences and skills in the different undergraduate
health courses characterized, but there are several challenges in this direction that make the process difficult.
Although course coordinators demonstrate mastery of the IPE conceptual and methodological framework, there
is a diversity of understanding about the most appropriate moment for the adoption of this strategy in the
curriculum.
