Abstract

Simulation is a technique that uses problem-based learning principles and partial or total representation of a task, known as simulator. It is mostly used in activities concerning skills or decision-making process. Historically, several areas of expertise independently developed it and only recently a systematic approach has been generated. Several factors, including ethical issues and the need of more elaborated forms of evaluation, are fomenting the development of this technique in medical education.
