Tourism institucionalization in state government: the experience of São Paulo

The state of São Paulo is known for its importance in the National Tourism. Conversely, there is a lack of studies about the institutionalization of tourism in the State and even about the activities of the Government. In this work were identified models of the organization and performance used by the state in the promotion of tourism development. It was made an extensive review of official documents related to the issue, set up by the Tourism Secretaries, which were collected and organized chronologically in the period from 1965 until 2007. Thus, it was possible to schematize and understand the evolution of the operation and organizational structure of the institution of tourism in the State. Altogether this data contribute to elucidate the historical development of Sao Paulo State Governamental Tourism Institution panorama. Consequently, subsidies the planning according to the reality and needs of the Government.Downloads
