This study aims at providing a methodological approach to research in tourism, through an analysis of spatial features. In order to base it, social theory is studied. Therefore, this article refers to the process of urbanization, as a category of analysis, examining its values, expressed by the urban fabric of Caxias do Sul. It addresses how the urban facilities for daily life stand out, with their typically defined features, regarding tourist activities. By analyzing hospitality facilities, a dialectical study is conducted, focusing on the contrasts that define the tourist space of the town. This condition, while displacing the traditional research categories, references a way of approaching the social space produced for tourism.Downloads
