Abilities and learning of entrepreneurs/managers in small hospitality business

This study it has as main objectives identify the abilities perceived as necessary to efficient businesses performance, the abilities desired for them, as well as pointing as the entrepreneurs/managers learn these abilities and evaluate the training agencies. The data had been collected through personal interviews, based on structured script , carried through with 43 entrepreneurs/managers of hotels of small hospitality business located in Curitiba, Paraná. The results of the study show that majority of entrepreneurs possess another enterprise activity and therefore, great parcel of these businesses is headed by managers. With regard to the abilities necessary to the efficient performance of the businesses, the interviewed had detached that it was very important to have knowledge of the sector, management techniques and vision of the business. In relation to behavioral competences, interviewees consider that is very important to know how to deal with guests and employees because they are essential in the hospitality services. Entrepreneurs prefer to learn by doing but evaluate positively the organizations that offer training courses, despite the high for small business.Downloads
