Abstract

This article analyzes the contemporary global context set by recent crises and prospectamscenarios that explore the possibilities offered by new parameters of competitiveness, withemphasis on the imperatives of innovation, changes that marked the world in recent decades and facts that put in check structures and processes historically made. The travel and tourismsector suffers the impacts of all sorts of transformations and tries to adapt to the new socio- cultural settings and possibilities facilitated by new information technologies, which, in turn, configure new segments, new markets and new products. Understand the dynamics, extent and intensity of these changes is critical in analyzing current and prospective, necessary toguide strategic decisions on tourism.
