The objective of this paper is to evaluate the perception of Ilha Grande's residents related to the environmental impact caused by tourism and to contrast to tourist's point of view, as to demonstrate if there is any consequence of the environmental impact on local hospitality. On this aspecttwo important questions are made: if residents think the impact is caused by visitors, how do they behave due to tourism; if this behavior is negative, how do visitors interpret local hospitality. During the discussions about this problem, a new question appeared: if the impact is visible, how does it reflects on tourist's motivation to travel to Ilha Grande and what is the image that they have about the place, contrasting to resident's image .
