Abstract

Paper that intends to present and discuss the hospitality phases in Brazil, especially the transition from a private hospitality, at family homes, to
commercial hospitality, and from the small familiar hotels to the transnational groups that began to operate in the last decades ofthe XX century, in São Paulo. Desk research and comparative study that, from documents and bibliography, emphasizes the historical and evolutive approach.
