This articte discusses how the social image of the defective body is built and which is the place occupied in our society by people who possess such a body. Understanding that, early on the 20th century, the human body begins to be considered something in order to comply with the requirements of the established burgeois order, that is, it must correspond to specific function and esthetics patternssuitable to productio and consumption, any infringement of these expectations turns stigmatized and socialiy marginalized any individual havíng a physicai deficiency. The stigmatizing process takes place through the generalization of assertíons imputed to the defective body, to ali its individuality: "unable", "unproductive", asexual, antiaestheticsh ,etc. Ultimately, the utterness of the person having a physicai deficiency passes through being viewed as deviated from the established norms.
