Abstract

For a psychotic patient, building an internai representation of a group must be hard because for him, the possibility of building an image of an unified body is precisely what can bejeopardized. Making use ofgroups as a therapeutie resouree for psychotic patients is recommended because the group, as a transitional field, can operate as Potential Space: a fácilitating environment that favors development of maturational processes and creativity of each membefs group. Belonging to a group is an opportunity for a psychotic patient to experience forging a place where internai representations of a group can be founded. Creating internai representations of a group has a therapeutie effect on this kind of patient, since they forge a symbolic frame where the image of an unified body can be anchored.
