Attendance to the elderly health: its insertion in the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS)

Abstract

In this work the authors place attendance to the elderly health and their practices inside the Sistema Unificado de Saúde - SUS. They also present the model developped in the Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo - HC/FMUSP, as a referencial hospital that it is. The start with a historycal study of this attendance making a correlation between the elderly health needs and social determinanats that generate this king of attendance. A field survey was done using interviews northe the professionals as well as worth the users of this service. Propositions and main director lines were discussed as a way to insert the elderly as a universal usuary of the SUS. The present work is limited to the attendance deliverid by the govemment in the State of São Paulo. Conclusions are presented based on collected data and discussion deals with aspects of actual significance of efficiency and efficacy off the SUS programs of attendance to the elderly health.
