In this text I present some brief excerpts from the diary of Marie Bashkirtseff (1859-1884) and some of her paintings, in order to put the expressiveness of this artist as a sublime and at the same time visceral yearning to be humanized much more than eternalized. In order to appreciate her as a painter, one must realize how much the artist’s written work is compatible with the pictorial work, in order to be almost subordinate to each other.Downloads
