Clippings of life: “Villebois and other things”, some verses by Yevgeny V. Kharitonov

“Villebois and other things” (1973) is a series of about 25 poems written in the period of 1970-73 and gathered by their author, Yevgeny Kharitonov (1941-1981), under the same title. The autobiographical inspiration verses refer to childhood memories, tell anecdotes with friends, weave comments and reflect about the homosexual relationships of the poetic persona. Through these poems we have access to the imaginary and to a poetry deeply erased during the Soviet regime, namely, the homosexual-related one. Therefore, for this article we chose five poems which deal precisely with the love life of the poetic persona. As far as we know, it is the first translation of these Kharitonov verses into Brazilian Portuguese.
