This article examines the phenomenon of “Soviet nostalgia” in contemporary Russia. This nostalgia can be defined as the Russian population’s interest in culture, aesthetics, way of life and the Soviet past in general. The phenomenon is explained as part of the transformations that have occurred in the collective memory of the Russian people since the mid-1990s and have deepened in recent years. The article also seeks to address the use of this phenomenon by the Russian state in the sense of creating a new Russian national idea based on national unity and conservative patriotism.Downloads
