The main objective of this study was to compare seed physiological quality of soybean samples through accelerated aging and controlled deterioration tests. The efficiency of these tests was determined through comparisons of germination, first count and electrical conductivity. Results showed in spite of the restricted number of seed samples analysed, that the controlled deterioration can be efficiently used to evaluate the physiological quality of soybean seeds. This test appears to be less drastic as compared to accelerated aging, therefore, it is necessary to choose carefully the correct methodology for the previous adjustment of seed moisture content, to prevent or to minimize seed deterioration during this procedure.Downloads
