Based on a theoretical and methodological perspective that seeks to deviate from the logocentrism dominant in Modern Western Culture, this study focuses on the essential role of affect in the creations of Mapa Teatro, a Colombian group founded by siblings Heidi and Rolf Abderhalden. Generated in their bodies by the effects of the forces that vibrate across the environmental, social, and mental ecosystems of the present, affect triggers the group’s creative process, aiming to draw a “map” that makes sensitive the affect in question. As an example, the article analyzes the triptych Anatomia da Violência na Colômbia (2010-2017), in which the figuration of the affect of violence and the announcement of appropriate responses to it—the driver of several of the group’s works—reaches its most refined realization.
