The documentaries Brasília, a day in February (1996), by Maria Augusta Ramos, and Brasília (2011), by Cao Guimarães, present different views of the city, distant from the great historical narratives and focusing the urban daily life. These movies create an aesthetics of familiarization in a place conceived by an architectural utopia that develops detachment through monumental buildings. This is not an attempt to obliterate the capital’s history, but to crystalize this history on images, seeking on vestiges of the past attached to the space and the present times.
