This paper presents a historical research on the activities and productions of Emílio Guimarães in Porto Alegre, in 1911 and 1912, as a cameraman for newsreel Recreio Ideal-Jornal, funded by the eponymous movie theater, and photojournalist of the illustrated magazine Kodak. The goal is to contribute to a better understanding of the processes and practices of visual production and, in particular, film production, in the 1910s, showing some of the relations that connected press, photography and filmmaking in Old Republic in Brazil.Downloads
