The psychiatric reform allowed for mental health care transformations, which the therapeutic companion (TC) is part of. This study aimed to analyze this practice involving patients with mental disorders who were treated by a multiprofessional team, using 16 recorded therapeutic accompaniment sessions. The results showed the positive contribution of this kind of treatment mode in care for these patients, allowing them to recover various things they liked to do but no longer did due to a lack of stimuli, as well as the institutions negative influence on the evolution of this disorder.
