Abstract

This research aims at verifying the existence of stimulus concerning the use and abuse of alcohol in university party posters, using Discourse Analysis. Fifteen posters were collected in 2005 and fifteen in 2007 in Uberlândia-MG, Brazil, which were analyzed concerning the presence of party name/theme, pictures, availability of alcoholic beverages and brand logo. One or more topics related to the use and abuse of alcohol were observed in 93.3% of posters in 2005 and 86.6% in 2007. Thus, this research found an apology for alcohol consumption in the university party posters.
