Bibiana and Belonísia, the protagonist sisters of the novel Torto Arado, have their lives intertwined by a tragic incident. The plot takes place in the interior of Bahia, in Chapada Diamantina, a region that received a large contingent of workers, submitted to a degrading work situation, analogous to slavery, the land that the writer Itamar Vieira Junior from Bahia ranged as a servant of Incra and that inspired him to write a story of resistance, of social insubordination, by the strength of the people, by the strength of the landscape and the life stories of people who live there: a true epic saga, as the author himself reiterates in this interview. The novel is narrated in first person by three narrators, who alternate, one in each of the three chapters that make up the book, a force of female voices that gives life and power to the narrative. It is this resistance narrative, intriguing and timeless, awarded in Brazil and abroad, that constitutes the theme of the interview with Itamar Vieira Junior.
