Author Biographies

  • Ana Paula Tavares, University of Lisbon

    PhD in Anthropology of History from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2010), Master in Brazilian Literature and African Literatures in Portuguese from Universidade de Lisboa (1996), Bachelor and Licentiate in History from Universidade de Lisboa (1982). Integrated Researcher at CLEPUL, Collaborator of AHNA (National Historical Archive of Angola), Guest Professor at Universidade Agostinho Neto (Luanda), Collaborator of RDP-África, Writer. Her main areas of research are the History and Literature of the African Continent and Angola. She has published books, book chapters. She has several publications in the field of fiction and poetry. She was awarded the Camões Prize in 2025.

  • Debora Leite David, University of Sao Paulo

    PhD in Comparative Studies of Portuguese Language Literatures from the University of São Paulo (2011). Member of the Research Group 2 - African Cultures and Literature of the Portuguese Language of CLEPUL (Center for Literatures and Lusophone and European Cultures of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon), under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Ana Paula Tavares. Postdoctoral research by the University of São Paulo (2012-2015), with the research project Almanach de Lembranças Luso-Brasileiro: African literary marks in Portuguese language in the 19th century (Bolsa FAPESP), under the supervision of Profa. Dr. Tania Celestino de Macêdo. Author of articles in specialized magazines and book chapters in Brazil and abroad, has experience in Literature, with emphasis on Comparative Literature and African Literatures, working mainly on the following topics: utopias, identities, intellectual, press, nationalisms, afropolitanism, mobility, migration, violence and national liberation struggles.

    Retired Full Professor of African Literature in Portuguese at the University of São Paulo.
