The article will discuss the aspects of the tragedy of the book Querida (2009) by Lygia Bojunga. The goal is to discuss the presence of the tragic themes such as hybris, pathetic, symbolic incest and presage. Lygia Bojunga introduces Pollux, main character of the book, as a boy who is jealous of his mother. He finds refuge of the devastating effects of this emotion in the house of an unknown relative called Pacífico. The affectionate stories of Pollux and Pacífico intertwine leading both of them to definite questionings and appeasements. Querida also talks about art which is a recurring theme in Lygia’s books.
