Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) comprise inflammatory and degenerative conditions that arise from the combination of occupational and psychosocial risk factors. A better understanding of WMSDs in dentists enhances the effectiveness of preventive strategies aimed at protecting occupational health and improving work quality throughout professional life. Objective: To assess, through a systematic review, the clinical-epidemiological profile and factors associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders in dentists. Method: A systematic review conducted in accordance with the methodological guidelines for the preparation of systematic reviews of comparative observational studies on risk factors and prognosis issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. The investigation followed the items previously defined in the systematic review protocol, which was submitted to the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews. The electronic databases PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, and Scielo were consulted. Results: Ten studies were included, comprising a sample of 3,415 dentists aged between 22 and 74 years. The prevalence of WMSDs ranged from 50.4% to 91.4%. The findings demonstrated associations between WMSDs and sex, age, anthropometric factors, working hours, repetitive movements, inadequate posture, anxiety, depression, and physical activity. The most prevalent diagnoses were low back pain (41.6% to 85%), neck pain (21.3% to 84.6%), and shoulder pain (17.6% to 81.2%). Conclusion: The results describe the clinical epidemiological profile of professionals and highlight the importance of developing preventive strategies and ergonomic interventions, such as guidance regarding work breaks and encouragement of physical activity.
