O objetivo deste artigo é discutir o fluxo dos artistas visuais brasileiros para os Estados Unidos nas décadas de 1960 e 1970 como um fenômeno coletivo complexo, aqui denominado de “exílio artístico”. Para a análise, considera-se que houve um aumento do campo de influências dos Estados Unidos no meio das artes e da cultura brasileira que atraiu os artistas para aquele país. Apesar dos dispositivos de atração, a cena nova-iorquina não se tornou por isso mais inclusiva e aberta para os que lá chegaram, transformando o “exílio artístico” em uma experiência de fracasso profissional para muitos que o viveramDownloads
