Abstract

On September 21st, 2020, the travelling exhibition “Philip Guston Now” was postponed in the United States and England. This article tries to understand the reasons behind this reaction and the struggle faced by institutions in order to deal with the contradictions presented by new social movements.

    Tiago Mesquita é crítico de arte e professor de história da arte. Doutor em Filosofia pela Faculdade Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas da Universidade de São Paulo (FFLCH-USP), já publicou em periódicos como Novos Estudos Cebrap, Revista Fevereiro, Folha de S. Paulo e O Público (Lisboa). É autor dos livros Rodrigo Andrade: Resistência da matéria e Paulo Monteiro. Atualmente é professor temporário no Departamento de Artes Plásticas da Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (ECA-USP).
