Abstract

Interview with the plastic artist Felix Nelson (Rio de Janeiro, 1954), for the master research of Lucas Costa about the unsteady processes in art. In this conversation, the artist talks about the elements that constitute a certain tension in his work and the difficulty in defining these sensations that are triggered in the creative process and intricate in a way in his work. In this context, Nelson Felix approach an artistic tradition, precisely because of the reflection on contemporary art and his own performance in the circuit. In the broadest sense, the conversation goes around the artistic activity and the power of the cultural thinking.

Author Biographies

  • Nelson Felix
    Nelson Felix (Rio de Janeiro, 1952) é escultor, desenhista e professor. Iniciou seus estudos de pintura com Ivan Serpa, em 1971, e se formou em arquitetura, em 1977. Dedicou-se inicialmente ao desenho, e, posteriormente, à escultura. Em 1989, recebeu bolsa do Ministério da Cultura da França, por exposição ocorrida na Galeria Charles Sablon, em Paris. Recebeu, em 1991, a bolsa Vitae de Artes Plásticas. A partir da década de 1990, realiza esculturas de mármore com base em órgãos ou aspectos do corpo humano. Em 1994, foi artista residente na Curtin University (Perth, Austrália) e no Karratha College (Karratha, Austrália). No mesmo período, idealizou as Mesas, esculturas em granito nas quais faz referências às interações entre a natureza e os objetos culturais. Ao retornar ao Brasil, realizou, em 1995, com Luiz Felipe Sá, o vídeo O Oco, sobre sua produção artística. Sua obra é analisada nas publicações Nelson Felix, com texto de Rodrigo Naves (Cosac & Naify, 1998); Nelson Felix, com textos de Glória Ferreira, Nelson Brissac e Sônia Salzstein (Casa da Palavra, 2001); Trilogias: Conversas entre Nelson Felix e Glória Ferreira (Pinakotheke, 2005); e Concerto para Encanto e Anel, com textos de Ronaldo Brito e Marisa Flórido Cesar (Editora Casa 11, 2011).

Participa do Grupo de Pesquisa Poéticas Hibridas, coordenado pelos Prof. Dr. Wagner Cintra e Prof. Dr. Agnus Valente - IA/UNESP.
