Archeology of perception: video-installations of André Parente

The spatialized images created by André Parente in his video-installations suggest the problem of vision and establish analogies to the theme as it appeared in discourses and practices from the beginning of the XIX century, with their interest in subjective vision and non-veridical perception of the world. The non- veridical perceptions in André Parente's installations, however, exclude neither the body nor the reference to present time. Those don't affirm the lie, the dream or fiction as the subjective dimension of expression in art. Parente chooses the temporal dimension of the image as source and model for today's subjectivity and vision.Downloads
