This study offers a brief biographical trajectory
of Arthur Bispo do Rosário, reviewing the romantic character of his mystification and recognizing, in the process of compulsory manicomialization and the dilemmas related to the reception of his production in the artistic circuit, operations inherent to colonial violence. Faced with the different ways in which his work is mobilized posthumously, this study treats his production beyond the term “work,” defending it as the “Bispo Situation,” thereby marking an intertwining of art and politics.
