This work presents a translation of the play El Gallo, by Víctor Zavala Cataño, which remains as an unpublished work in Portuguese language. We search, thus, to fulfill a gap in the theatrical studies in Brazil, besides marking through an introductory text the importance of a work which is constantly barred, mainly due to the fact that its author has been a political prisoner in Peru until June 2017.
Keywords: Political theatre, Víctor Zavala Cataño, El Gallo.
