This text offers a review of Mononoke Hime, a classic Japanese animated film released in 1997 directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by the legendary Studio Ghibli. In the film's narrative, we witness changes as terrible as irreversible, carried out by a type of world that insists on imposing itself, destroying and producing distinct and unequal capacities for survival. Melancholy haunts the whole story, but this does not prevent an equally optimistic presentation of the possibilities of alliances, the importance of resistance and the struggle for other ways of living. It's a storyline that remains relevant not only in fiction and allows for speculative associations with anthropological contexts of analysis.
