This article discusses the use of the poetic composition technique known as cento by the Christian poet Proba (4th century) in the poem De laudibus Christi, with emphasis on the first authorial 23 lines, and the author’s modifications of Virgil’s verses throughout the text. The article also includes a proposed translation of Proba’s original poetry.
