Abstract

This article presents an experience report of the project “Radio Coração: Communicating to Transform,” developed at the Educandário Coração de Maria in Rio Grande (RS), with children in socially vulnerable contexts. The analysis addresses the use of image and sound creation in pedagogical processes, emphasizing the communicational and civic dimensions of education. Based on educommunication and critical education, the study adopts the methodology of participatory research, with a qualitative approach, considering the role of one of the authors as the technical manager of the project. The results indicate that the school radio, when integrated into the pedagogical project, constitutes a formative device that favors children's protagonism and awareness of human rights. It is concluded that the experience contributes to the field of educommunication by highlighting the potential of radio as an emancipatory pedagogical practice in social and educational projects.
