It is widespread in literature the view of Fordism and Ohnoism as phenomena of general feature Nevertheless, they are better viewed as specific forms of industrial labor organization, different from those which can be considered as true heirs of machinery. Fordism brought to History the mass production founded on live labor. At the same time, Fordism minimized the role of human resources because it spared qualification and involvement. Ohnoism represented, in relation to Fordism, a strictly organizational change, which means maintenance of the mass production founded on live labor, now dependent in extreme on the worker’s involvement. Microelectronic automation will represent the historical end of Fordism and Ohnoism, and will lead to the unification of the concept of industrial production, which will be constituted, in all its segments, of a “technological aplication of science”.
