Determinantes da adoção de tecnologia na agricultura paulista
Keywords:
technology adoption, qualitative variables, limited dependent variablesAbstract
In this research were analyzed the factors that contributed for the process of agriculture modernization, with cross section data of the crop years 1973/74 and 1988/89. It were used llimited-dependent and qualitative variables models (probit and tobit analysis). The results showed that the structural variables postulated as determinants of the modernization process - schooling, experience, agricultural research availability, resident and non resident work, farm and crop scales - influenced the adoption and intensity of use of new techniques. It was concluded that among the conjunctural factors the rural credit access promoted agricultural modernization. The environmental variables analyzed - hydric deficiency, land’s price and quality - also conditioned this process.
