This paper presents systematically the post-Keynesian theory of endogenous (credit) money, as the basis for the development of a cogent post-classical monetary theory. We outline how this can be done on the basis of a Marxian critique of post-Keynesian horizontalist theories. The alternative theory proposed here is developed through the links between the theory of credit and money with the theory of production and circulation of capital.
