The target of this article is to evaluate the main theoretical and practical issues related to the integration of competition policies around the world (WTO and the small regional blocks). There are five basic points being addressed: a) the recent debate of the theme at the WTO; b) the lack of competition policy integration as a device to a revival of protectionist practices and its implications; c) the possibilities of harmonization between competition and trade policies, especially the anti-dumping one; d) the implications of the lack of harmonization for the world welfare-reducing actions of the international cartels; e) suggestions for the Brazilian position at Mercosur, Alcsa and WTO.Downloads
