This paper analyzes the experience of Korean economic development between 1961 and early 1990s, emphasizing its mains factors and specific characteristics. In spite of analyzing only the economic factors, the result of this work shows that the Korean economic development has a significant relationship with the political, economic, social, institutional and cultural factors, providing strong support to the idea that the economic development is a complex phenomenon. The main factors behind the Korean growth performance were high saving rate, cooperation between government and private sector, public planning, homogenous income distribution, high investment in human capital, exports of products intensive in technology and human capital, and constant institutional change.
