Abstract

The article shows the unusual character of Keynes’concept of inflation in his General Theory. In this work, Keynes makes a conceptual differentiation between true inflation and semi-inflation. Contrasting to his others works in which inflation causes redistribution of wealth, in the General Theory, this is restricted to the case of semi-inflation, not of the true inflation. It is argued that such approach is related to his argument that, in capitalist system, reduction of the real wages should be brought about by increasing the price level, and not by the reduction of the nominal wages.
