Indexação e o combate à inflação
Abstract
Os responsáveis pelas decisões de políticas econômicas e os cidadãos de todo o mundo ocidental estão procurando meios para tratar uma inflação socialmente desagregadora e aparentemente irrefreável. Da mesma forma que em episódios inflacionários anteriores, muitos estão novamente se voltando para a indexação de contratos monetários, como um paliativo ou urn auxilio para solucionar o problema da inflação. Indexação significa expressar contratos em termos reais ao inves de monetários. Isso e feito ajustando-se os termos nominais, nos quais o contrato foi redigido, de acordo com as alterações no preço monetário do produto ou conjunto de produtos ao qual se refere o contrato. A ânsia pela indexação origina-se em parte na inabilidade de prever de maneira precisa o preço futuro dos produtos em termos monetários, ou, em outras palavras, a perda de confiança na moeda como um padrão de valor.
