O impacto do seguro-desemprego na economia brasileira

This article emphasizes theoretical and empirical aspects of the introduction of the unemployment insurance in the brazilian labor market, mainly the consequences in the supply and demand of labor. With the parameters stated in the new legislation about unemployment insurance (Decreto-Lei 2284)
some cost estimates has been made. Finally, with special methodology, this text tries only to show that unemployment insurance is very important because it means that aggregate demand decreases less than the labor income decreases. In this sense, it contributes to maintain vacancies in the labor market, or to prevent a higher unemployment due to demand decreases.
