This research was designed to evaluate the effects of policies and institutions on agricultural performance over time in six poor developing countries, i.e., Mali and Burkina Faso in West Africa; Kenya and Tanzania in East Africa; and Nepal and Sri Lanka in Asia.
The major findings derived from the six individual country studies highlight a number of policy issues and draw some conclusions and generalizations that might be of potential interest to policy makers in their formulation of agricultural development strategies.
