Elasticidade de substituição e absorção de mão de obra: uma crítica e proposta de nova abordagem

The elasticity of substitution between labor and capital is an important parameter for designing employment policies in manufacturing. We show that the available estimates of this parameter are subjectto a bias related to the treatment given to intermediate inputs. Taking account of the relationship between the employment of labor and the use of intermediate inputs, we design a new method for the analysis of some of the problems of employment and industrialization. New estimates of the relevant parameters are provided.
