The aim of this paper is to analyse some conditions that allowed the development of the citrical agroindustry in the state of S. Paulo, as well asto caracterize the productive structure of each sector, envolved in its dinamic. The establishment of the agroindustrial complex in the Brazilian economy is the primary referential of this analysis. Citriculture, due to reasons of economical and propitious edaphologic and climatic conditions, appeared in the state of S. Paulo as a well technified activity, with high economic potenciality. It is basically headed by rural entrepreneurs and settled in medium establishment This caracteristics sponsored the implantation of the juice-processing industry at the end of the sixties, which became the citrical industry. The economic results obtained by agroindustry were profitable and its sectors had a quick expansion in the seventies. In the same period, the social structure tended to a oligopolic framework, helped by serious crisis in the agroindustry. In this process, the four major processing groups were responsible for more than 80% of the capacity of crushing and of the demand of orange. This originated serious reflexes in the trading of the oranges crops, where the price is crucial to the performance of the economical sector. This facts gave conditions to the juice-processing industry to be the "dinamic pole" of the citrical agroindustry.
