As a result of the case study approach the relationship of project economic evaluation with the national economy could be tackled in this article. A special emphasis was committed to the identification and appraisal of project indirect effects. For this reason, indirect costs such as environment effects could be added to the analysis. The compensating project technique was employed to surround the externality problem. It was possible to apply the Little-Mirrlees methodology because several conversion factors were estimated both at national and at project level. The latter were utilized to derive the required shadow prices. Finally, the estimates secured by the employment of the referred to methodology were compared with the results of the financial evaluation.
